Hi there! Nice to meet you!

I'm Celeste - a recreational kayaking enthusiast based in southeastern Ontario. I work during the week, and our family spend winter weekends between the rink and local hiking trails, but through it all, I count down the days and minutes until I can get onto the water, because as my Instagram profile says, #idratherbekayaking

I started this blog to help our family keep track of and share our favorite family kayak trips. We live in the Greater Toronto Area of Ontario, and are lucky to have dozens of great kayak destinations within a short drive of our home.

While we live very close to Ontario's Great Lakes, our trips are focused on the smaller, inland water bodies of Ontario, including reservoirs, rivers, wetlands, and lakes.  Kayaking has grown a lot over the past few years, and Ontario's creeks and smaller lakes are a great spot for recreational kayakers.  If you're looking for inspiration on where to kayak, read on...  our family is out on our local waterways weekly from spring until late fall, and we've got lots of great spots to share in our Destinations tab.

Kayaking has been a way for our family to connect - and to disconnect from electronics!  See you on the water!

Me in "The Beast", our 85 lb Wilderness Systems Pamlico tandem. It's kind of like a mini van... built to carry a lot, but a bit awkward to steer and park sometimes. (Not to mention carry!) My co-pilot naps more than he paddles, but we love every minute on the water!
